For the subjugation of Kamsa,
for the protection of the good,
I shall definitely go to Mathura.
I leave to accomplish good works.
Listen, everyone,
bid me farewell with a smiling face.

People of Vraja
We cannot do this with a smiling face –
to allow the moon to be devoured by
[the demonic planet] Rahu!
We shall lie down across your chariot path.
We won’t let you pass under any circumstance.

Krśńa
Charioteer, drive this chariot over them!
I have to leave for Mathura today itself.
And so, however dear they may be,
if they try to hinder the fulfillment of my oath
I shall not stand for it.

SÁRATHI RATH CALÁO ODERA UPARE
JETE HABE MORE ÁJI MATHURÁY,
JATAI PRIYA HOK VRATA KE SÁRTHAK
KARITE BÁDHÁ DILE SAHIBO NÁ TÁY.
