Translation
In melodies you gave, filled with your language
O Lord, I’ve sung songs for you.
There’s nothing in these you could call mine.
This is your legacy wrought by your own power.
Lost in the fog, when I drifted in inertia’s spell
in the infatuation of egotism, I remembered how
you taught me these yourself,
and made me understand.
Nothing of mine is worthy of attention.
You gave me flower garlands and ample love,
the sixteen elements of worship,
even the viińá’s accompaniment.
[Yet] you said, “Leave these aside and look within.
Whether you want them or not
these songs are a gift of compassion.”
