Translation
Into which AlakĂĄ have you brought me?
The waters of loveâs Yamuna are splashing and surging.
You filled the heartâs YamunĂĄ*
with sweetness
On the eyelids shines celestial kohl
Into the delighted heart, in ever new attire,
you came
into which Mathura, having become king?
You made the entire heavens
and the earth seem trivial.
[For] in the vibrated firmament of the heart you
poured a stream of nectar.
With the strains of the enchanting flute, with what
otherworldly songs did you make me
your own on this very day?
*The river Jamuna is closely associated with
the story of Krsna in his early life as Vraja Gopal.
On the stormy night of Krsna's birth,
the Jamuna is said to have parted
and made way for Krsna's father,
Vasudeva, carrying Krsna to safety.
Moreover,
Krsna and his childhood friends used to play
on the banks of the Jamuna.
